Men of ‘honour’: Cousins ‘killed for fleeing forced marriage’

Posted by sioespain en 17 diciembre, 2010

MULTAN: Two young women were murdered in the name of “honour” while they were returning home from the Multan district jail on a donkey cart on Saturday.

Khursheed (21) and Nadra (23) were returning to their home town of Mozah Marhaata in the Pir Adil village of Dera Ghazi Khan.

The two women were allegedly trying to escape a forced marriage. According to the girls’ housemaid, they were cousins and were trying to avoid being forcefully wed to their paternal cousins. “They left their home nearly 18 days ago and we didn’t hear from them. The men of the family were searching for their whereabouts,” housemaid Aleena said.

Police officials said the women were apprehended by swindlers and were forced into prostitution. “We arrested them from a brothel on December 3 in Fateh Noor and they told us what had happened,” the superintendent of police, Azam Kamal, said. “We had initially registered a case against them for soliciting customers and they were in jail but were released on bail on Sunday at 6:30 pm,” he said. Police officials confirmed that the women had been arrested in Fateh Noor and were later sent to the Multan district jail. “The case became known in the area and their relatives must have found out,” Kamal said, adding that a few hours after the women were released they were ambushed. Police officials said that Mumtaz and Ghulam Hussain, their fiancés, opened fire on them. “We have been told that the girls’ father and uncle were also part of the attackers,” Kamal said.

Police officials said that the family members were trying to bury the bodies when the station house officer (SHO), Ilm Din, managed to recover the bodies of the victims and sent them for a post mortem. “They were trying to do it all secretly.

The men stood in the shade of the trees and one of the boys was digging up the graves when we caught them,” Din said. Khursheed’s father, Muhammad Azeem, said that he would register a case against Mumtaz and others for the murder of his daughter. “I still maintain that the families of the girls knew about the incident and were behind it but we will discover the truth in the investigation,” SHO Ilm Din said, adding that even Azeem was present at the burial site but immediately changed his story when the police began to interrogate him.

Neighbours of the family have told the police that they had seen all the men of the family chase after the girls when they left the village.

“They openly said that the women would not return home alive because they had dishonoured their families,” said Azeem’s neighbour Shaukat Anwar.

“We are currently waiting for the post mortem report but we have arrested all the men present at the burial site,” Din said. Police officials have begun an investigation and have taken all the accused into custody.

Marine Le Pen compara las oraciones públicas de los musulmanes con la ocupación nazi

Posted by sioespain en 14 diciembre, 2010

‘NO MUSLIMS INSIDE’ sign is not the first in Alabama

Posted by sioespain en 13 diciembre, 2010

An Alabama store owner known for putting jokes up on the billboard outside of his electronics store has found that the response gets chillier when you decide to use racist jokes.

The quote Chuck Biddinger used instructs drivers that the “BBQ Pork Restaurant Is Safest. No Muslims Inside.” Sorry, but Muslims are not a race so it can’t be racist.

Who will teach Tolerance to the Muslims?

Posted by sioespain en 13 diciembre, 2010

Every time a Muslim terrorist is caught trying to kill Americans in the name of Islam, the media and the politicians immediately go on full alert over the threat of an “Islamophobic backlash” against Muslims. Right away city mayors, district attorneys, law enforcement officials, sensitivity trainers, school board members, television executives and editorial writers go sliding down the TolerancePole(TM) on an urgent mission to head off the inevitable orgy of violence by ordinary Americans who are always presumed to be 5 minutes away from shouldering a battering ram and heading off to the nearest mosque– by teaching tolerance toward Islam.
That means embedding Islam even deeper into the school curriculum, adding a “positive depiction” of a Muslim to every TV show on the air, and arresting anyone who even looks funny at a Koran.

With all the energy expended on teaching Americans to be tolerant of Islam, you would think the streets of every major city were covered in the bodies of Muslims murdered by mobs of ignorant Americans who had never been exposed to the wonders of Islam.

But 9 years after Muslims murdered thousands of Americans, there has yet to be such a case. The mobs have not materialized.

Even the already inflated number of hate crimes targeting Muslims are a blip on the radar compared to how many such crimes target Jews and Blacks. The Islamophobic backlash that was on the verge of drowning Dearborn or Jersey City in a postmodern pogrom has never actually materialized.

So far Muslims have murdered thousands of Americans.

And a single American filmmaker killed his Muslim partner when the latter expressed support for Al Qaeda right after 9/11. That was 9 years ago.

As of now the domestic murder scoreboard reads, “Muslims 3,000 – Americans 1”. Anyone trained in the arcane arts of basic addition and subtraction can’t help but look at that score and wonder if it’s perhaps the people who have a kill count in the thousands who need to be taught tolerance, more than the schlubs who were just barely tolerant enough to score a 1.

That the 1’s need to be taught to tolerate the 3,000’s among them is as perverse as bringing retired members of the SS into Jewish classrooms to teach tolerance toward Nazism. Yet every day across the country, American children are indoctrinated to positively view the ideology that murdered thousands of their countrymen out of religious fanaticism and naked bigotry.

“Be tolerant of your murderers”, is the real message. “Because if you’re not tolerant enough of them, they might snap and car bomb your Christmas tree lighting ceremony or your next family outing to see the Lion King.” Is that what tolerance comes down to? Teaching the children of tomorrow to feel like battered spouses today.

Missing in all this great hullabaloo of tolerance, is any interest in teaching Muslims to tolerate the Christians, Jews, Hindus and other religions that they have traditionally persecuted and massacred. And though the score still stands at that bloody 3,000 to 1, there is no program to prevent Anti-Christian and Anti-Semitic bigotry in Muslim schools.

Fine educational institutions where it is not unheard of to teach the class that Jews are descendants of “pigs and apes” and out to conquer the world. Or that homosexuals should be executed. And that Muslims are allowed to kill and rob Hindus and Buddhists.

Even the least rational among us, taking a look at that 3,000 to 1 score, would come to the conclusion that maybe more ToleranceEducation(TM) resources should be devoted to the people who carried out the worst massacre in American history, than to the people who in response to that massacre began reassuring them that there were no hard feelings about it.

This is all the more extraordinary when you consider that the average Muslim is safer walking down the streets of an American city, than an American is walking down the streets of a Muslim city.

At worst, the Muslim might be mugged. But he will not be seized and dragged away, held for ransom in some sodden basement and forced to convert to Christianity or Judaism on pain of death. He will not be forced to star in videos denouncing his own country and his family will not have to watch his head being sawn off by a grinning Buddhist in baklava. All situations that any American traveling to the Muslim world must be wary of.

A Muslim in America is better off than a Filipino in Saudi Arabia, an Englishwoman in Dubai, a Christian in Turkey, a Jew in Yemen or a Frenchwoman in one of the Banlieues. Because for all the science exhibits showcasing the knowledge that the Muslim world “borrowed” from Greece and India, the Muslim world is still hopelessly backward when it comes to the basics.

Like not beheading people for following a different religion. There is not a single Muslim country in the world where non-Muslims have legal equality. And nowadays, there is also a vanishing number of Western countries where non-Muslims have legal equality with Muslims.

Cartoonists can mock every creed, but that of Mohammed. TSA agents can strip search American little girls, but they had better look the other way when a mobile black sheet named Fatima or Aisha walks through their security. She could be a man or two men or three men and a camel under there, but the TSA agents will be too busy frisking elderly nuns to risk being found guilty of the one venial sin of airline security, profiling a Muslim.

Deface a bible and it’s art. Burn a Koran and you won’t even be able to keep a job with the State of New Jersey. All that’s missing is a law banning churches and synagogues from being built taller than a mosque, and it would be just like home in Saudi Arabia.

To continue their valiant battle against the omnipresent scourge of Islamophobia, the media and the politicians have defined it down. Now being opposed to building a mosque near the site of a recent Muslim massacre of thousands is a dangerously bigoted sentiment. But murdering thousands of Americans does not make one a bigot.

And an ideology which continues to spawn terrorists like frogs in a radioactive pond, is not in any need of tolerance training. Muslims already have the ultimate book on tolerance at their disposal, the Koran. What more need do they have for tolerance?

Muslims and their academic apologists will point to their fine record of tolerance for religious and ethnic minorities in their own countries, whom they invariably at some point got tired of tolerating and began massacring.

But the apologists would rather focus on the happier times before the massacres began.

The Golden Age of Spain, before Muslims began massacring the Jews. That time in the Sudan before the Muslim wiped out the Christian and Animist population. And all those times when Turkey didn’t massacre Christian Armenians. Not to mention that day or two of peace that Hindus in Kashmir get every year.

Like a serial killer on trial, the Muslim world would rather you focus on all the times they didn’t kill people– rather than all the times they do.

Since September 11, politicians have insisted that Muslims are just like every other American. And they are. They enjoy snapping shots of major landmarks, going to strip clubs and domestic air travel.

But once in a while they stumble across the wrong verse in the Koran and decide that it’s telling them to “Slay the infidels wherever you find them” (Koran 9:5), when it’s actually telling them to, “Cook the infidels a delectable meal and invite them over for dinner to discuss mutual respect for all religions” (Nowhere Because It Doesn’t Exist 2:3) And due to that tragic ‘misunderstandering’ of Islam, along with the usual causes such as the mortgage crisis, airborne strains of PTSD and the stereotypical depictions of Muslims on American television– *poof*, off they go on a killing spree.

But that seems to make it all the more vital to teach tolerance to the Muslims, before they’re in van trying to set off explosives while the carolers warble and the crowd is looking up to the angel at the top of the Christmas tree.

Yet instead we teach the carolers tolerance, and tell the Muslims to report any incidents of caroler related Islamophobia directly to their local police department, Special Islamophobic Crimes Hotline.

There was a time when police officers told battered wives that they had to be more understanding of their husbands.

Today they tell Americans to be more understanding of Muslims. They do work hard you know. And if they try to car bomb you sometimes, maybe it’s because you don’t please them anymore.

It’s time to admit that the American-Muslim or Muslim-American experiment has failed badly. There is no magic ray of Americaness beaming down from the Statue of Liberty that immediately transforms a new immigrant into a Yankee Doodle Dandy.

It takes a willingness to be an American. Or at least a reluctance to kill Americans.

But by the beard of the prophet, when the Koran crosses the border, its intolerance and genocidal imperatives do too. And unlike the members of every other major American religion who don’t believe that they are under a current obligation by their deity to slaughter heathens and infidels– Muslims still think they’re on a mission from Allah to force the world to live by the rules set down by an illiterate 7th century warlord whose idea of a friendly greeting was ‘Aslim Taslam’, or in the latin, “Convert to My Religion and I Won’t Kill You”.

In the 9 years since 9/11, our authorities have assiduously taught tolerance to Americans, but absolutely failed to teach it to those who need it most.

The Muslims who were killing Americans all along. Like sending crime victims to a ‘Scared Straight’ program at the local prison, while putting their muggers through self-defense classes, this approach hasn’t exactly worked out too well. We don’t have an urgent problem involving violence against Muslims.

We do have an urgent problem involving violence by Muslims. It’s the same problem we had nine years ago. And nineteen years ago. And two-hundred and nine years ago, when Jefferson sent in the United States Marines to set the Muslim pirates who thought that Allah had given them the right to raid American ships and sell their sailors into slavery, back on their heels.

We are often asked whether Americans are learning to be tolerant of Islam.

Perhaps, it’s time to ask that rarely asked of questions, when are Muslims going to finally learn to be tolerant of others?

The Jihadist Social Network Underworld

Posted by sioespain en 13 diciembre, 2010

“When are these crusaders gonna realize they can’t win?,” Baltimore bomb plotter Antonio Martinez boasted on his Facebook page on August 4th. “How many more lives are they willing to sacrifice. ALLAHUAKBAR.” As details emerge about the plot to bomb a military recruitment center in Baltimore,MD, one thing is clear—Facebook is having a coming out party as the new go-to place for Jihadi recruitment, radicalization, and planning.

According to an internal DHS memorandum  from early 2010, “jihadi supporters and mujahideen are increasingly using Facebook, one of the largest, most popular and diverse social networking sites, both in the United States and globally, to propagate operational information.” While the DHS report, reported on  earlier today by FoxNews.com, provides an academic study of terrorist groups’ infiltration of social networking sites, an IPT analysis of the Facebook accounts of Martinez and his friends and associates shows that the threat is very real.

Facebook features pages devoted to convicted and suspected terrorists, radical clerics, and terrorist organizations. One page, dedicated to Faisal Shahzad, who’s now serving a life sentence for trying to detonate a car bomb in Times Square, has been “liked” by 30 people. Another page for Omar Hammami —aka Abu Mansoor al-Amriki—a Daphne, Ala., native now serving as an operational commander for al-Shabaab in Somalia, has been “liked” by 26 people. Anwar al-Awlaki, a leader and spiritual advisor to al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), has 24 supporters. Al-Awlaki has been designated by the United States government as a terrorist; Hammami has been indicted for his close personal links to the designated, al-Shabaab.

Martinez’s page includes links to numerous nasheeds—Islamic-oriented songs, often sung a capella—most of which appear to have been originally published by al Qaida’s As-Sahab Media. Commenting on one such video of jihadis engaging in acts of terrorism, Martinez writes “ALLAHUAKBAR!!!!!!” On another, he explains “Shaheed is the goal and the women of paradise is waiting. So why are we delaying o brothers? Lets meet our wives in the paradise inshallah and reap the fruits of the 1 who struggles for Allah and His deen.”

A friend of Martinez who goes by the name Mohamed Momo, lists Faisal Shahzad, Anwar al-Awlaki, and As-Sahab Media among his interests. Momo’s list of friends on Facebook includes a smorgasbord of likely jihadist-sympathizers—judging from the contents of their profiles—mixed in with well known American Islamists. One such individual is Imam Siraj Wahhaj, the spiritual leader of Masjid at-Taqwa  in Brooklyn, N.Y. Wahhaj has had a long history of virulent speech against America and Jews, and appeared on a list of unindicted co-conspirators during the trial for the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Additionally, Wahhaj served as a defense character witness on behalf of the planner of the attack, Omar Abdel-Rahman (aka the “Blind Sheikh”).

Reviewing these pages, the case against Martinez presents a perfect example of how terrorists—who have traditionally sought to exploit new and alternative media—are increasingly turning to social networking sites to spread propaganda, direct users to more radical websites and forums, exchange operational and tactical guidance, and for reconnaissance and targeting purposes.

Terrorist organizations and their supporters have consistently utilized developing technologies to spread their message, and social networking sites are only the newest method. Highlighting the use of Facebook to “share operational and tactical information,” and “as a gateway to extremist sites and other radical content,” the DHS report demonstrates how radicals have taken to the web to promote their message of hate.

In one example, DHS explained, “explosives related material, informational videos with titles such as ‘tactical shooting,’ ‘getting to know your AK-47,’ ‘how to field strip an AK-47,'” were collected from a Facebook group with over 2,000 members. “Links to al-Qaida videos on YouTube, propaganda videos featuring wounded and dead Palestinians in Gaza, and videos promoting female suicide bombers were all openly accessible as well.”

DHS also highlights how more than simply posting radical propaganda, Facebook is increasingly being used for its discussion forums to “spread ideological, tactical, and operational information.” As an example, the report references a statement on a forum by a known radical:

“This [Facebook] is a great idea, and better than the forums. Instead of waiting for people to [come to you so you can] inform them, you go to them and teach them! God willing, the mujahideen, their supporters, and proud jihadi journalists will [use the site, too]. [First,] it has become clear that the market of social networking websites is developing in an astonishing manner and that it fulfills important needs for Internet users, particularly younger ones.”

Finally, and a threat that the DHS report appears to recognize is still in its infancy, Facebook is increasingly being used for “remote reconnaissance for targeting purposes.” The Shin Bet security agency has recognized terrorist use of social networking sites for remote reconnaissance, warning Israeli Soldiers  about posting sensitive information: “terror organizations are using these [social networking] sites to tempt Israelis to meet up in person in order to either abduct them, kill them or recruit them as spies.”

While the DHS report provides anecdotal evidence of Facebook’s use by radicals and terrorists, the case of Antonio Martinez and his Internet ilk demonstrate the severity of the threat.

WikiLeaks Secret Saudis dancing, drugging, and boozing it up

Posted by sioespain en 10 diciembre, 2010

That’s the insider account by a U.S. diplomat, whose night on the town in the Red Sea city of Jiddah (mission: to observe “social interaction” of rich Saudi youth) was summarized in a confidential memo released Wednesday by WikiLeaks.

“The underground nightlife of Jiddah’s elite youth is thriving and throbbing,” the memo said. “The full range of worldly temptations and vices are available — alcohol, drugs, sex — but all behind closed doors.”

Wait, this is Saudi Arabia they are talking about? The place where women are banned from driving and can be jailed for socializing with men outside their family? The land whose brand of Islam, known as Wahhabism, is perhaps best known in the West for beheadings and its role as somber guardian for the holy pilgrimage cities of Mecca and Medina?

To those unfamiliar with the undercurrents of the Middle East, it all could seem a bit hard to fathom. But the U.S. cable touches on a basic lesson for understanding the region: public mores and private passions can be very far apart. It’s a bit like a cultural version of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Wild parties rage behind closed doors in Tehran even as Iran’s hard-liners tighten their grip. Conservative Gulf sheiks make sure their wine cellars are well stocked.

Outside Saudi Arabia, it’s not unusual to see a traveler from the desert kingdom hunkered down at an airport bar or letting loose in Bahrain — a favorite party haunt for Saudis who can simply drive over a causeway and, sometimes, weave their way home.

“What one quickly realizes about the Middle East is that there are layers upon layers in society,” said Salman Shaikh, director of The Brookings Doha Center in Qatar.

But he does not believe that Saudi officials will face much fallout from the disclosure. ”There’s certainly the potential for some embarrassment, but a closed society like Saudi is based on a series of social deals,” he said. “It’s really not in anyone’s interest to call attention to these deals or try to tear them up.”

The American diplomat who wrote the January 2009 cable added just enough flourish to give the invitation to a Halloween party an intrepid feel. It’s a look, he writes, “behind the facade of Wahhabi conservatism in the streets.”

It begins by clearing the prince’s security detail. Next up was a coat-check area where women pulled off their head-to-toe black abayas.

Inside, Filipino bartenders served up a cocktail punch using moonshine vodka. An American “energy drink company” — whose name was blacked out on the WikiLeaks release — helped bankroll the bash that included, the diplomat was told, some prostitutes mingling in the crowd.

“Not uncommon for such parties,” the cable said.

“The scene resembled a nightclub anywhere outside the kingdom: plentiful alcohol, young couples dancing, a DJ at the turntables and everyone in costume,” the message continued.

Bottles of name-brand booze were behind the bar, but apparently only for display. A black market bottle of Smirnoff, the cable said, can cost up to $400 “when available” compared with about $26 for a bottle of home-brewed vodka.

That appeared even too irresistible a savings for the well-connected host, a prince whose family ties go back six generations to dovetail with the lineage of Saudi King Abdullah, who is currently in New York recuperating after two back surgeries.

The prince’s name was redacted from the cable posted by WikiLeaks. But it gave a sense of his privilege. “Although … not in line for the throne, he still enjoys the perks of a mansion, luxury car, lifetime stipend and security entourage,” the cable said.

It’s apparently also enough political juice to keep the feared morality police at bay. Their power — always strong — has further increased in recent years as Saudi clerics and others push back harder against what’s perceived as threatening liberal trends among the young.

The American cable said the religious police were “nowhere to be seen” near the party.

“Saudi youth get to enjoy relative social freedom and indulge fleshly pursuits,” the cable said, “but only behind closed doors — and only the rich.”

Wajeha al-Hawaidar, a Saudi activist who has been banned from writing or appearing on Saudi TV because of her support for women’s rights, said the private, Western-style indulgences are “well known outside and inside Saudi Arabia.”

“When you put much pressure on a society, people will still go on with their life,” she said. “We are not rocks. We are human beings.

STUDY SHOWS THAT MUSLIMS WILL CONQUER THE WORLD BY 2050

Posted by sioespain en 25 noviembre, 2010

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) calculations show that the world population is rapidly increasing, having reached 6.9 billion in 2010 and will near 9.15 billion by 2050.

The world of the future will be crowded, impoverished, and Islamic.

The UNFPA data suggests that India’s population rose by 16 million, totaling 1.21 billion, this year and it is expected that the nation’s population will witness an increase of 400 million, reaching 1.61 billion and surpassing China, in 2050.

The sharp rise in India’s population will come from Muslims, who now constitute 14% of the country’s population. Muslim women in India display a much higher Total Fertility Rate (TFR) than Hindus. On average, the number of children born to Indian Muslim women is 4.1, for Indian Hindu women 2.9.

The TFR figures support the calculation that the Islamic population of India will reach 340 million within the next forty years.

The fund speculates that the United States, thanks to Hispanic migrations, will be the world’s third most populous country by 2050, with 403.9 million inhabitants.

Pakistan’s population will reach 335 million by then and will rank fourth in terms of population. Presently, 97% of the Pakistanis are Muslims

Nigeria will be the fifth country followed by Indonesia, with 289.1 and 288.1 million inhabitants, respectively. 70% of Nigerians and 88.2% of Indonesians are Muslims.

Large countries like Japan, Russia, Germany and Italy are expected to witness a population decrease of 25.3, 24.3, 11.6 and 3 million, respectively.

Separately, the UNFPA data suggest that women in Afghanistan have an average of 6.42 children, which is followed by Somalia and Uganda – 6.31 children for the former and 6.16 for the latter.

Hong Kong has the least children per women with a TRF rate of 1.01.

New Fatwas Permit Killing Tourists, Attacking Coca-Cola and McDonald’s

Posted by sioespain en 24 noviembre, 2010

A jihadist website has posted fatwas that permit the killing of tourists and targeting of “infidel” companies like Coca-Cola and McDonald’s, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

The fatwas on the website Al-Minbar Wal-Tawhid came in response to a posting by a member named “Abu Sayyed Qutub,” which included the following questions:

· “What is the ruling regarding companies that distribute Jewish and American products, such as Coca-Cola and McDonald’s?”

· “Is it permissible to receive help from gangsters in order to carry out jihad operations, as they say the jihad in Algeria is doing?”

· “Is a group of fewer than 10 young people without military or organizational experience permitted to target tourists in countries with apostate [Muslim] governments, where no known jihad group operates?”

Sheikh Abu Walid al-Maqdisi, a Gaza-based cleric, replied that according to Sharia, it is forbidden to harm Muslim lives and possessions but permissible “to target infidel and polytheist lives and possessions.”

“If the owners of these companies are Muslims, it is forbidden to harm or steal from them, even if they distribute or sell goods produced by the Jewish and Christian enemies of Allah, as long as the essence of the commerce and of the goods is permissible according to sharia,” Maqdisi said. “However, if these companies are controlled by infidels, their property may be taken as booty, since the infidels of today are considered combatants.”

Kidnapping and killing tourists was permissible so long as it was done by “people who are reliable, knowledgeable in Sharia, and have organizational and military experience” and are acting for the benefit of Muslims, he said. If a Muslim lives where no organized jihadist group exists, he should establish one, Maqdisi said.

Muslims are prohibited from obtaining help from infidel gangsters (although they may purchase weapons from them), he added. While Sharia doesn’t bar Muslims from receiving help from Muslim criminals, the assistance should be rejected “if it is likely to harm the reputation of the mujahideen, or their jihad plan,” according to Maqdisi.

Fears rise of pre-Christmas Al Qaeda terror attack in Europe after ten suspects arrested

Posted by sioespain en 24 noviembre, 2010

Fears are rising across Europe of an al-Qaeda outrage before Christmas as intelligence services work frantically to track down radicalised western nationals returning from terror camps in Pakistan.

Ten suspects holding Belgian, Dutch, Moroccan and Russian passports were arrested in Belgium, Germany and Holland.

Prosecutors spoke of a complex plot involving an ‘international Islamist group’ in Belgium although a specific target was not identified.

Media reports spoke of a Chechen element involving Islamic separatists embroiled in a long-running struggle with Moscow.

Meanwhile across the border in Germany it was widely reported that two members of a six-strong suicide squad were already in the country.

The famed glass dome of the Reichstag building in Berlin was closed to tourists indefinitely on Monday amid interior ministry warnings that a strike could be expected in November or early December.

The feeling among intelligence services is that al-Qaeda is prepared to ‘go for broke’ with a bloodbath before Christmas using westerners who have converted to Islam to avoid detection at air and seaports.

Two scenarios are on the table; a Mumbai-style massacre using automatic weapons stored at safe houses or suicide bomb attacks using explosives also stored among radicals within the country’s massive Muslim population.

Tuesday‘s raids – which have almost certainly prevented death and destruction in Belgium – were not linked to the Jihadists currently at loose in Germany.

They were the culmination of months of investigation. Most of the arrests took place in Antwerp, Belgium‘s second city, while one German was arrested in Aachen on the German border with Belgium.

At least some of them are suspected of links to terror suspect Bassam Ayachi, who was charged in 2009 with preparing terrorist attacks.

‘Long months of undercover investigation’ led to the arrests, the authorities said.

‘The suspects were using a jihadi website to plan an attack on an unspecified target in Belgium,’ police said.

The suspects were due to be presented to a judge and remanded in custody later on Tuesday.

Meanwhile in Germany security is being tightened ahead of the opening of the traditional Christmas markets which draw tens of thousands of international visitors each year, many from the UK.

Germans are facing the prospect of seeing armed troops on the streets for the first time since Hitler’s armies were destroyed in WW2 as police leaders tell politicians they cannot contain the mounting terror threat alone.

Klaus Jansen, head of the Professional Police Association, said; “We must assume that the exceptional circumstances for police through the acute terror danger will last long into the next year.

‘Law enforcement personnel alone will not be capable of sustaining that level of protection.’ He said the Bundeswehr, the German army, must be drafted in to help.

This would involve the breaking of a massive taboo in Germany that has been in place since the collapse of the Third Reich in 1945 and the start of a pacifistic streak which now runs deep through society.

Deploying troops on to the streets – a regular sight at Paris rail stations and tourist magnets – would be a massive jolt to the German psyche and would require a change in the current law which forbids such actions.

Lower Saxony Interior Minister Uwe Schuenemann of the conservative CDU backed the police calls and said it was time for Angela Merkel to get the troops out of the barrack and on to the streets.

Since interior minister Thomas de Maziere‘s warning of a terror plot last week security has spiked at dozens of locations across Germany. On Monday the world famous glass dome of the Reichstag parliament building was closed to tourists, fuelling fears that this was one of the targets for a Mumbai-style massacre of innocents which has been mooted in the media.

“Israel Is Fighting Our War”

Posted by sioespain en 23 noviembre, 2010

Below is an interview with Geert Wilders from the Israeli newspaper Yedioth, published on November 19, 2010 (print edition only).

Many thanks to DarLink for translating it from the Hebrew:

“Israel is fighting our war”

Even a journalist from a friendly country such as Israel does not escape invasive hands of the security guards who protect Geert Wilders. At the entry point to the interview with Holland’s extreme politician, founder and leader of the anti-Islamic “Party for Freedom” [PVV], bodyguards do not hold back, and run extensive security checks. Time and again they recheck my identity, making sure that I possess nothing that could potentially turn into a weapon.
Wilders, on the other hand, looks disconnected from the security turmoil around him. It seems that he must be used to it. That’s the way it is if you are one of the most threatened persons in the world.

“To tell the truth, yes, I fear for my life,” he admits.

“I am just a man. The danger does not come only from Holland. It is outside too. There are very serious threats from various terror groups, and when one is aware of the extent of the danger, it is only human to think that something bad will happen. But I cannot allow these thoughts to affect my work. If I moderate my voice because of the threats, stop saying what is on my mind, or quit being a politician, those people will have used anti-democratic means, threats and murders to silence others. They will win. I am not going to let them”.

He has reason to fear. His statements against Islam, his demands to stop immigration of Muslims to his country, the building of new mosques or wearing the veil in public — all that did the job. Although in Europe he is recognized as the most prominent leader of the anti-Islam movement, imams in the Muslim world have sentenced him to death. Terror groups promise to murder him — a man who until recently was an obscure politician with hardly any influence, but now, thanks only to his support, a new Dutch government was formed a few weeks ago.

Wilders says aloud what many Dutch and EU citizens probably think, and he pays a very heavy price for that. He lives under around-the-clock tight protection in a “safe house” provided by the Dutch government. He is the only parliamentary representative with an “unknown” home address.

“It is sad that while fighting for my country’s freedom I lost my own,” says Wilders in a special interview for Yedioth. “I have only freedom of speech and thought. Threats to my life prove that my arguments are just. I am sure that if I spoke with criticism about Christianity or Judaism, there would be no such radical response. There would be no demonstrations in Vatican. The Dutch flag would not be burnt. A million and a half people who voted for us in the last elections do not see me as a fascist or a racist.”

In two weeks Wilders is coming for a visit to Israel as a guest of a parliament member Ariel Eldad. He is invited to participate in a conference against the two-state solution.

“Israel is the lighthouse and the only democracy in this backward and dictatorial part of the world,” he proclaims. “Israel is very close to us, to our European identity. Israel fights our war.”

It Is Not About Color

Just a few days ago Dutch court decided not to punish a Muslim rapper who wrote in one of his songs that he is going to attack Wilders. “Geert, this is not a joke. Last night I had a dream about taking off your head,” the rapper sings and promises “Anyone who talks about Muslims will be killed.”

There are many rumors about Wilders’ way of life. They say that he does not sleep in the same place twice in a row, that he does not see his wife for months.

At first, six years ago, when the government did not have “safe houses”, “My wife and I stayed for a few months in a prison,” he says. “The cells we lived in had been previously occupied by two Libyan agents, responsible for “Pan Am” plane slaughter. We were not there as prisoners, but as protected personas. We also slept on military bases around Holland and military planes took us, if need be, to our meetings. It was insane. There were times when I had to put on a wig, a false mustache, and a pair of sunglasses to prevent others from recognizing me.”

Wilders stands out as a leader of anti-Islamic movement in Europe. Six years ago he left the Liberal Party [VVD] and founded an independent fraction. His party’s unpredicted success in last year’s elections to EU Parliament stunned the political arena.

In last summer’s elections to the Dutch parliament, The Party for Freedom tripled its numbers and became the third largest party in The Hague’s House of Representatives [Tweede Kamer]. The latest polls show that if new elections were held today, his party would be the largest, with 31% of the vote.

The standoff between the two largest parties — Liberals [VVD] and Social-Democrats [PvdA]— left the coalition negotiations stranded until they decided in a surprising move to form a minority government that will be supported by the Party for Freedom. From now on Wilders is an officially recognized and accepted part of Dutch politics.

Extreme right? Racist? Fascist? “I am the direct opposite of all this,” protests Wilders. “We use democratic means only. We are definitely not racists; we do not care about the people’s skin color. It is ridiculous to claim that all of our voters are fascists. It is an insult — not just to me, but to them as well. There are not that many insane people in Holland. But the political elite, who failed to solve the problems we talk about openly — massive immigration, crime rates, Islam — still thinks that it is not politically correct to talk about that. They see us getting wide support and they demonize us in response.”

Wilders says that well-established parties around Europe have no idea how to treat parties like his. “They try to stick all kinds of labels on us and then they copy what we do. A few weeks ago I made a speech in Berlin. I told Germans “Please forget your past. New generations are not responsible for what happened. Get rid of your past, because it prevents you from speaking freely about problems created by mass immigration and Islam.

“Angela Merkel and half of the government ministers criticized my speech and stated that I had no right to say things like that. A few weeks later, when surveys showed that if a party similar to mine were to be founded in Germany, it would get 20% of the voters’ support, Merkel changed direction and proclaimed the failure of the multicultural society.”

By the way, Islam is not a religion, in Wilders’ opinion. “It is a totalitarian ideology. There is no place in it for anything but Islam itself. It wants to control not only one’s private life, but the society’s life as well. If you are an atheist, a Christian, or a Jew living in a society where Islam is dominant, your life is very difficult. That’s why comparisons must be made between Islam and other totalitarian ideologies like communism and fascism.

“I have nothing against Muslims as human beings. Most of them are law-abiding people like you and me. But I am against mass immigration from Muslim countries, because immigrants will bring their culture here, which, if permitted to be dominant, will change our society. Already in countries with a sizable Muslim minority, those changes for the worse can be seen.”

In your struggle, you find yourself in the company of some very problematic parties such as Party for Freedom of Austria or France’s National Front.

“We do not have and never will have anything in common with those extremist parties. They are very different from us. We are conservative on issues concerning our culture and liberals on many other issues. The majority of Holland’s gays vote for us — they would never do that if we were extremists.”

Ariel Sharon As An Example

Wilders (47) is one of the most ardent and loud of Israel’s supporters in Europe, and contrary to many others he does not bother to hide this. He had even insisted on including in the platform of the new Dutch government the intention to improve relations with Israel.

“I am very glad that Israel is the only country mentioned by name in the platform; this will get it the needed attention,” he said “We are Israel’s best friends and we will support it in any way possible.” He bursts out laughing when asked about allegations of his being an “Israeli agent”.

“Common!” he says “It is obvious that I am not an Israel’s spy. It is insane. I am a Dutch politician and I work for Holland and what is best for its citizens. But I am a friend of Israel, and I am not afraid to say so. Because of my open support of Israel, people who do not like me invent these stories. The Iranian press states that I am a Mossad agent. Jordanians call me Shabak’s man. It’s nonsense.”

His romance with Israel started when he was 17 years old and came here to work as a volunteer for a year. “I enjoyed it very much, and not only because of the beautiful Israeli girls,” he recalls. “I was not involved in politics back then at all. I worked in the tourist industry in Eilat, a bakery plant in Jerusalem, and the cooperative settlement Tomar in the Jordan Valley. I went through some tense times in Tomar because the border with Jordan was not very secure. We had to take shelter from time to time when terrorists managed to cross over. We saw the arrival of IDF helicopters — for someone from the south of Holland who went to Amsterdam just a few times, those were very impressive experiences.”

Over the years Wilders visited many Muslim countries, including Iran, Iraq, Syria, Tunisia and Afghanistan. “I’ve met with some very friendly people over there, too,” he clarifies, “but the power in those countries is in the hands of the dictators. These people deserve better living conditions.”

He has many friends in Israel, and some of them are politicians. He had a very warm relationship with Ariel Sharon for example, whom he still admires. “Sharon was demonized in the West, too, but he was a great politician, and I take an example from him,” Wilders emphasizes.

“I believe that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is not territorial. Anyone who claims otherwise has no idea what he is talking about. If you gave up Western Bank and East Jerusalem and let the Palestinians have it, that would not end the conflict. It will take some time — a month, a year, ten years — but they will demand the rest of your country, because it is an ideological conflict. The solution therefore could not be territorial; it has to be ideological.

“Palestinians believe — and this is the nature of Islam — that Israel is theirs, and through the struggle with Israel they fight the non-Muslim West. The fight against Israel is the fight against us. We are Israel. The reason for Dutch parents’ good night sleep with no worries for their children is that parents in Israel go through sleepless nights because their children are in the Army. It does not mean that Israel cannot be criticized, but I am not ashamed to fight for Israel.”

At the conference Wilders will try to convince the public that Palestinians already have a country of their own. “Jordan is Palestine,” he states. “This was true in the past after Sykes-Picot agreement, and thus it is a solution to the conflict. Even the Jordan kings, Abdulla and Hussein, said so in the past. Only after they realized that these statements could endanger their reign, because Palestinians are a majority in Jordan, did they change their minds. I am against the idea of transfer or ethnic cleansing, but if Jordan became Palestine, it would be possible to encourage Palestinians to move there. Of course I will not be the one who decides how to end this conflict. Israel is a democracy and will decide for itself which solution is best for it. It is your decision.”

What is your opinion on Israel’s debate concerning the “loyalty oath”? Could it be implemented in Holland too?

“I think it is a good idea. Even though the background in Holland is different, I think that a pledge of allegiance to the country is a good thing. We will not be able to pass such legislation with the current government in Holland. I talked in the past about an integration agreement between the state and the immigrants or a loyalty oath, which will show their commitment first of all to our country and our values, our constitution, and our culture. It would be a positive step to take. The people of Europe have no idea who they are anymore, that’s why they do not know what to fight for. We have to reinvent our identity. In France, for example, before every speech by the president, the French flag is displayed and the national anthem is played. If someone tried to do that in Holland, everyone would think that he was out of his mind. We do not have a flag even in Parliament. You are not a racist if you are proud of your national uniqueness and fight to preserve your culture. The idea that all cultures are equal was forced on us by the left and the liberals, and is in fact the Europe’s worst sickness. People cannot see any difference between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam anymore despite the fact that they are worlds apart and are different in a thousand ways. We are fighting this idea, and we are slowly winning.”

Europe Is Not a Friend

Wilders does not hide his support for military action against Iran. “Iran is the biggest geopolitical threat to Israel, to the stability of the Middle East region, Europe, and the whole world,” he says. “That country is ruled by insane, religious lunatics like Khamenei or other crazies like Ahmadinejad. We can see some changes over there these days. Even the Revolutionary Guard is voicing criticism. Iran could explode from the inside. The danger in countries that deal with such an internal threat is that their regime may react violently and unpredictably. I am afraid of that. Because of the growing internal unrest, we cannot allow them to implement any program that could potentially be put to a military use. They will look for the common external enemy, and Israel would be the first to pay the price. I hope that diplomacy will lead to a peaceful resolution, but if Israel decides it has no other option but to strike Iran militarily in order to defend itself against this existential threat, I will understand. The alternative is the destruction of Israel.”

Is Turkey on its way to becoming a new Iran?

“Turkey is a very complex country. We have good relations with Turkey. It is a respected NATO member. But at the same time it is a country which can easily turn to the ways of Islam. I am against the American pressure on the EU to grant membership to Turkey. Europe does not need such a large country, where Islam is dominant, as a member. A good neighbor is not the same as a family member. If Turkey were to become a EU member, it would be required to fulfill certain criteria, one of which is to dismantle the army. I am quite uneasy about this. The army is Turkey’s only balancing power. If the army is dismantled, people like Erdogan could accelerate the Islamization process, which will turn Turkey into the Trojan horse in the heart of Europe. I also would not want to have a common border with such criminal countries as Iran and Syria.”

And what is your opinion on Israel joining the union?

“I would advise my friends in Israel not to consider such an option. The Union has always supported Palestinians. Israel has a lot of friends in Europe, but Europe is not a friend to Israel.”
